NOISEAUX – Nodemocracy | Release 23th August 2013

NOISEAUX SinglecoverNodemocracy is typically NOISEAUX: an odd concept with a pleasant outcome. The Song and the video combine the artist’s affinity to 1990’s console gaming aesthetics with a political empowerment statement. Nodemocracy is by mere coincidence released just before Germany’s federal elections. First and foremost, this edgy Electro Pop Hymn is artists and activist Noah Sow’s current motto. My art and my love and my body cannot be and will not be a democracy. The number of people who get to have a say in those matters is: uno. Simple as this philosophy may appear at first, implementing it is certainly challenging. Regulations, exclusions and sanctions apply to the female artists’ body and body of work. In the video, directed by Noah Sow, societal roles and functions are interchanged. Those usually in command remain silent, reduced to their body and to providing a cheerful atmosphere, jumping upon request. NOISEAUX, meanwhile, talks about autonomy while-not-smilingTM.

Nodemocracy is the third single off NOISEAUX’ album SPECTRUM. It turned out a suprise favourite of dancefloors and indie DJ’s. The EP download contains the results of a remix contest whose rules and regulations were, of course, utterly undemocratic. The album SPECTRUM marks artist and author Noah Sow’s transition from the debut album’s Afro-Punk to more electronic and conceptual Pop, to international acclaim. It has been portraied on ARTE (national TV in France and Germany) in the frame of reference of Santigold, Kele Okereke and Noisettes. With the album release, Noah Sow did two tours through Europe and multiple shows in the USA.
